I am available to provide network consulting services to any small to medium size business, home based business or user in the metropolitan Chicago area. My expertise is in networking, but I also have a solid knowledge base in the following areas:
I can provide full "turn-key" systems or assist in the implementation of any new network (including cabling and networking hardware and software) or upgrading of current systems. I can also provide network performance monitoring, reporting and troubleshooting services.

- Perform reactive and proactive network management on a multi-segmented multi-protocol (Ethernet, IPX/SPX, TCP/IP) 10/100 Mb/s Switched/Routed local area network
- Troubleshoot physical, data-link and network layer communications using network analyzers, scanners and continuity test equipment (LANalyzer, Network General Sniffer, MicroTest Compass scanner)
- Investigate, plan and perform benchmark testing of new technologies and associated equipment
- Responsible for entire network infrastructure including cabling and interconnect equipment for 1000+ users across three locations
- Install, configure, manage and troubleshoot hubs, routers and gateways (Bay Networks hubs and switches, Cisco routers and switches, SNA/SPX gateways)
- Assisted Novell, Windows NT, Lotus Notes and SQL administrators with installations, upgrades and reconfigurations
- Coordinated pilot program for remote access to firm resources via the Internet for 1000+ users. This included utilizing a standard connection to an ISP using a modified version of Windows Dial-Up Networking and a software encryption package
- Perform trend and real-time network analysis using HP OpenView 4.1, Bay Network's Optivity 7.1, Cisco Systems CiscoWorks 3.3 and Denmac's TrenData reporting station
- Assist in the planning/design of new network installations and reconfigurations
- Supervised and coordinated the day-to-day activities of one senior level and one associate level network technicians
- Developed and presented training materials and procedures for local support center staff to improve trouble call assignment and resolution
